Wednesday, July 6th Resting Pulse: 56 bpm Weight: 166 lbs. Course: Soos Creek Distance: 4 Miles Time: 34:17 Other Exercises: None Weather: Sunny, Breezy Comments: I ran an easy four miles after work. My legs felt tired, so my workout seemed more like a slog than a run. A bug hit me in the eye. (Yeah, big surprise.) In the morning, during my drive to work, I was waiting at a stoplight when my car lurched forward. I thought the engine had died, like it does when you take your foot off the clutch. I reached for the keys to restart the engine when I realized I drive an automatic. The engine shouldn't just stop for no reason. Well, the engine hadn't stopped; I'd been bumped from behind. The woman who hit me got out of her car and peered at the bumpers. I started to get out of my car too, but the light changed and people started honking. We were blocking traffic. The woman fled to her car, so I re-buckled my seat belt and drove through the intersection. I pulled over to the shoulder on the other side of the intersection and watched in my rearview mirror as the woman turned left and disappeared. I got out and inspected my bumper. I didn't see any damage. I assumed the woman hadn't seen any damage either and that's why she drove off. It did feel like I'd been hit-and-run though. I made the wrong pick for today's Tour de France stage. I thought Boonen was a lock if it came down to field sprint, but McEwen jumped on his wheel and nipped him at the line. Thor Hushovd finished third, but moved up to second in the Sprint Points competition. Go Thor! WARR: T-minus 73 Days |
