Comments: I felt good after a race for the first time in a long while today. More importantly, I improved on last year's time. I haven't bettered an old mark in more than a year. I hit the first mile in 5:56—and it felt easy—I went through the 5k point in 18:40 (my first sub-nineteen of 2005), and I passed the four-mile mark in 24:33. I slowed a bit in the final mile, but my legs were tired from two weeks of tough training.
