The Handsome Man with Athletic Thighs
Running In Circles

Wednesday, May 10

Course: The Wrecking Yard
Distance: 4 Miles
Time: Not Timed

Comments: I've haven't been recording my runs lately. I kept telling myself I'd get back to it, once I updated my journal with all of the races and orienteering events I've done over the past couple of months. Clearly, that's not going to happen. I might as well jump back in as if I never left. Here's a brief summary:

Two weeks ago, I ran five days in one week for the first time all year. I felt pretty good about myself. One week ago, I put in a single day of training and competed in an orienteering meet which went poorly. I got pretty down on myself. I resolved to turn it around this week.

Monday, I felt really fresh—not surprising after an easy week—and I ran too quickly because of it. I knew I was going too fast, but I couldn't make myself slow down. I told myself I would pay for it later. Tuesday, I paid for it. I felt really stiff and sore. Then, to add insult to injury, I choose a very hilly route to run. Pure misery. Today fell somewhere in the middle. My legs felt tired, but they weren't really stiff or sore. I plodded through an easy four miles. I went slowly, but it didn't hurt.

Sometimes I feel like I'm breathing underwater.
